Julie Flynn

Julie Flynn is a lifelong New Jersey resident who has lived all over the Garden State but has called Wall Township in Monmouth County home for the last 7 years.

She is one of three daughters of a teacher and of a colonel in the NJ National Guard who was raised to fight for what she believes in.

Julie is running because NJ is getting increasingly unaffordable for those of us who love it. Middle class residents, like Julie herself, are priced out of starter homes. Healthcare prices keep going up, and groceries aren’t getting any cheaper.

Meanwhile, Chris Smith and his Republican colleagues vote to take away the programs and services that families need to get by and to thrive. We are losing support for children who need it in our public schools. We are losing healthcare for low income and disabled residents, which will only raise our own costs and put hospitals out of business. We are seeing the FEMA money that should go to natural disasters go to inhumane camps and detention centers filled mostly with law-abiding immigrants. What happens if there is another Hurricane Sandy and they refuse to send any help?

Julie believes in the importance of unions and solidarity between all workers. She is the Vice President of the New Brunswick Chapter of the Rutgers AAUP-AFT faculty union and serves on the University Senate. She has marched on picket lines with nurses, actors, writers, and service workers.
